From January-May, after 4 years of dreaming it into reality, I will be studying abroad in east Africa in the country of Tanzania to study wildlife conservation!!
I aspire to become a conservation biologist and wildlife photographer. Studying abroad provides me with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in these fields that would otherwise be unavailable to me in a normal classroom setting. Studying abroad in Africa has been something I have wanted to do ever since I can remember.
Currently, I am SO close to funding this program, but I need YOUR help!

Through the School for International Training (SIT) and the Tanzania Wildlife Conservation and Political Ecology program, I will be spending 4 months in Africa studying wildlife conservation, learning Swahili, and spending one month conducting my own independent research project. Over 30 days of my program will be spent camping within various national parks, and I will have the opportunity to be part of a homestay with a local Tanzanian family for 3 weeks, as well as spend one week living in a rural Masai village. Needless to say this program will challenge me both academically and physically—but it is truly a dream come true.

For my final year of university, I was determined to not let financial issues or anxieties stand in my way. SIT’s Tanzania program costs over $19,000 for the semester—not including flights, books, or visas. I have worked several jobs and saved up, received a few scholarships, and applied for a loan in order to manage these costs. Currently, I am able to cover about 2/3 of the program expenses utilizing the funding listed above, but am still falling a bit short of my goal. This is where I need YOU!
Upon conclusion of my official studies I will remain in Africa for 3 weeks after the program, going to South Africa to volunteer at a local wildlife rehabilitation and conservation center. This will be most valuable in understanding hands-on some of the prevalent socio-political issues that established Wildlife Conservation agencies are facing and how we may be able to improve in the future.
I will return to the United States with a global perspective, technical experience in my research field, and thousands of photographs. I plan to change the world and contribute to wildlife conservation, and this is a HUGE step towards my dreams!
Please consider helping me fund my study abroad and research experience in Africa!
My program departs at the end of January 2015, and anything helps!
Your support is needed and greatly appreciated!

THANK YOUUU!!!!
