Hi, our names are Ariel Bolens, Justin Bolens, and Savanah Camden and we are raising money as sponsorship for a marathon that we are participating in on October 25th, 2025. This is where the true reason for this fundraising drive comes in... We decided to start running at the beginning of this year as a way to better our physical and mental health as well as inspire our kids to live a healthier, more active life. We were active prior to this; however, after starting back running, we decided to search for a marathon to participate in near the end of this year, giving us 6+ months to prepare. Here we landed on the Emerald Isle Marathon, and it quickly occurred to us that this would be during breast cancer awareness month. For those who may not know us or our families, we lost Ariel's mother, Marcy, in 2016 after her long and courageous battle with triple-negative breast cancer. Marcy was an inspiration to those around her, and despite facing her own battles, she spent her last few years giving back to the community around her as well as providing for herself. One thing she always seemed to do was put a smile on her face and show only her strength through this hard time. Because of this, we decided right away that we would make shirts in tribute to her, and she would run this marathon with us both in memory and spirit. Knowing the difficulties both emotionally and financially that come with the battle against cancer, we wanted to raise sponsorships for each mile of our race and use those funds to help others in the community sharpen their sword for their battle against this terrible disease. Marcy had a special love in her heart for the age groups most vulnerable, one being the elders in the community who didn't have much support, as well as the children, which she actually went back to school to become a teacher because of this passion. We decided that selecting children to support with these funds would be exactly what she would do, and so that's where we landed. We have 2 children here locally in Kernersville that we have spoken with their families, both are battling the same rare bone cancer, Ewing sarcoma, and in the middle of treatment. Ewing requires a very heavy chemo schedule, mostly requiring week-long stays in the hospital for treatment, as well as repeating this for months to complete the cycle. As I speak more with the families, I will share more about their stories as I update this drive.

Right now, we have a goal of sponsoring $100 per mile for all 26 miles for each of us, therefore a goal total of $5200. All money that comes in will go to these families. We have already covered our own expense for race entry, stay, and shirts, and none of these funds will be used for anything except support of these children.

We hope if you know us, you know where our hearts are and can share with your friends and families. We are actually in the process of starting a non-profit "Miracles From Mimi," but due to the inability to get the tax exemption from the IRS due to their processing times, we would not have everything necessary to fundraise for this event that way.
