On Friday, September 24th my little love was brought into the ER at UPMC West Shore for what showed up in symptoms as appendicitis. Fatigue, distended belly, no interest in food, and she was dehydrated because she couldn’t keep liquids down. She was transferred to UPMC Harrisburg to the pediatric unit. After getting an IV in for fluids, they took her for an X-RAY. It was then determined that Aria had swallowed 3 refrigerator magnets. She was rushed in for surgery. It took them three hours from start to finish. It was determined that the magnets were able to force themselves through her stomach, and small bowel, in four separate places. The surgeon was able to repair all 4 at that time. For the next few days, my sister and brother in law watched their 2 year old daughter on a ventilator, with IVs, an NG tube, and a central line. The IVs are giving her fluids, nutrition, antibiotics, and antacids to keep her belly happy. It has been 5 days since her original admittance into the ER. She has kicked the ventilator, the antibiotics, the IV port in her foot, and we are hoping to kick the NG tube next. She has been through so much and is fighting like a warrior.

I decided to create a go fund me to assist with the medical expenses my sister and brother in law will be dealing with for some time to come. She is going to be in the hospital for at least another week. Please consider donating towards this cause. All funds will be going towards medical expenses for my niece, Aria Lynn Barbush.
