Ardingly Playground Fundraiser - 20mi walk for Monkey Bars!

We’re a group of Ardingly dads – Toby, Dan, Toby (yes, two Tobys!), Joel, Noam and Ross – walking 20 miles on June 21st to help improve the local playground — a space where children from all over come to play, laugh, and enjoy being kids.

Why are we doing it?

The playground’s starting to show its age — and it offers very little for older children. We’d love to change that!

Older kids need more adventurous equipment — monkey bars, climbing frames… even swings would be a huge win.
Small upgrades — like scooter track markings or a proper start/finish line — would make a big difference straight away.
The playground has given our children so much — now we want to give something back for everyone’s children.

Try to think back to when you were a child — do you remember the joy of a playground swing or climbing frame? That smile? We want to give that same feeling to hundreds, even thousands, of children — especially at a time when screens compete constantly for their attention.

How your donation helps:

We’re aiming to raise £5,000 to kick-start improvements — and every pound counts:

£15 = 1 metre of fun, road-style markings for scooters and bikes
£100 = a start/finish line for racing games
£4,000+ = opens the door to exciting, larger pieces of equipment (yes, they really cost that much!)

Starting at the playground, we'll wind 10 miles through hilly Sussex countryside before experiencing another 10 miles in a mercilessly flat second half (a relief for our middle-aged knees!). We’ll earn the blisters — but we need your help to make it count. Every donation takes us one step closer to the play space children deserve.

P.S. We've already made a start! We are the behind-the-scenes volunteers who helped the parish council give the playground a much-needed recent deep clean – scrubbing away algae and dirt, and make it much more inviting. Look at what difference a bit of elbow grease made! Now we want to go even further – and your donation will help us do just that.
