We Did It – 20 Miles for Ardingly Playground!
We’re a group of Ardingly dads – Toby, Dan, Toby (yes, two Tobys!), Joel, Noam and Ross – and on June 21st, the hottest day of the year, we walked 20 miles from Ardingly to Lewes to raise money for our village playground.
Why? Because it’s time to give our children the playground they deserve.
Ardingly’s playground is well-loved but showing its age – especially for older children, who are often left with little to do. We want to change that.
Our goal:
To kick-start a wave of improvements – from quick wins to bigger, long-term upgrades:
- More adventurous equipment for older kids – like monkey bars, climbing frames, and proper swings.
- Fun and affordable additions – like road-style markings for scooters and bikes, or a start/finish line for racing games.
- A space that grows with our children and keeps them active, outdoors, and smiling.
Think back to your own childhood – that feeling of soaring on a swing, or the thrill of reaching the top of a climbing frame. We want to bring that same joy to hundreds (even thousands) of children, especially at a time when screens compete constantly for their attention.
How your donation helps:
We’re aiming to raise £5,000 to kick-start the transformation – and every pound makes a difference:
- £15 = 1 metre of scooter-friendly track markings
- £100 = a finish line for play races
- £4,000+ = opens the door to exciting, larger pieces of kit (yes, they really cost that much!)
We’ve earned the blisters – now we need your support to make it count. Every donation takes us one step closer to a better play space for local children. One where they can run free, play boldly, and just be kids.
With huge thanks,
The Ardingly Playground Rambling Dads – Ross, Toby, Dan, Noam, Joel & Toby

P.S. We’ve already rolled up our sleeves – we’re the behind-the-scenes volunteers who helped the parish council deep-clean the playground earlier this year. It made a real difference… and now, with your help, we can go even further.
