Aqueduct Marathon Fundraiser
Donation protected
As I did last year, I will be running in the New York Cat Hospital Annual Father's Day Marathon. And again - as sole participant - there's a good chance for a repeat win!
This year I plan to run the length of the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail: 26.2+ miles from the Croton Dam down to Van Cortland Park in Yonkers.
An engineering marvel, the original Croton Aqueduct was constructed in the mid-1800s to carry desperately needed fresh water from reservoirs upstate to New York City. Though no longer in active use, the section of the Aqueduct through Westchester and the path atop it became a State Historic Park in 1968.
It's a beautiful multi-use trail passing through towns all along the Hudson, treasured and oft used by many including Linda and myself.
My goal after last year's marathon was to eat three hamburgers in rapid succession. I succeeded.
This year, I have loftier goals: I'm hoping to use this event to raise funds for the Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct (http://aqueduct.org/home). Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct is a private, non profit volunteer organization formed to protect and preserve the Old Croton Aqueduct. The Friends work to raise public awareness of the Aqueduct and trail and to secure the resources that will enable this historic greenway to remain unspoiled in perpetuity.
Please help me reach my goal of $5000 by making a donation.
Donations of $250 or more will receive a special New York Cat Hospital T-shirt! For donations of $500 or more, I'll take you out for a fancy dinner!!
