On Tuesday, 24th March 2026, Portia, Tio & Trish are leading the swimming ladies for an aqua aerobics/dancing fundraiser at the Mounts Baths Northampton — not only to promote fitness, joy and culture, but to ensure the UAA can continue its vital work across all our projects.
The United African Association (UAA) is a lifeline for African and migrant communities in Northamptonshire, offering foodbanks, career advice, wellbeing sessions, drumming, swimming sessions, and a host of community gatherings.
Did you know that according to UK surveys most Black and Asian adults and children don’t swim, often due to fear? Your support helps break barriers, reduce isolation, and foster inclusion. Thanks to our dedicated instructors, nearly 300 women have already learned to swim at Mounts Pool. With your help, we can keep this safe, inclusive space open—and hopefully launch men’s swimming sessions, too. Your kindness really does make a difference, helping us break down barriers and foster inclusion in Northamptonshire.
Every donation—no matter the amount—directly helps us cover pool hire, fund essential services, and keep these empowering sessions running. Your generosity enables women, men, and families from all backgrounds to connect, stay active, and access much-needed support, reducing isolation and building a true sense of belonging.
Whether you’re taking part, donating, or sharing our cause, you’re helping us provide:
• Food parcels for vulnerable families
• Community hub sessions that promote wellbeing and support
• Emergency accommodation for those in crisis
• Drumming, gardening, and other sessions that bring people together
• Weekly swimming sessions
You can help us by donating any money, however large or small. Alternatively you can transfer your donations directly.
