Graduate workers in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Michigan have been striking with their union, the Graduate Employees' Organization (GEO-3550), for affordability and dignity for all graduate students: a living wage, access to childcare support, transitional funding from abusive advising situations, access to trans healthcare, improved campus safety, and more. The University has retaliated by withholding striking GSIs' April wages, jeopardizing many Anthropology students' ability to pay their May expenses. Donations to this GoFundMe will go towards a hardship fund for Anthropology graduate workers, which will ensure that people whose needs are not met by the general GEO hardship fund can manage their basic expenses. If the administration changes course and pays GSIs, or if more funds are collected than necessary, any remaining funds will be redistributed to the general GEO-AFT strike fund to support GSIs in other departments across campus.
