Anthill Community Firebreak
We are raising money for: CALDOR FIRE
Robert Reid rented a bulldozer and used his personal equipment to build a firebreak in Somerset. Having Wildland firefighting experience he knew the fire was coming and wasn’t stopping without a major break in vegetation. The powers at be were setting the black line at the nearest highway intersection and basically going to allow everything to burn. With the help of dozens of volunteers running personal backhoes, skidsteers and chainsaws they created a fire line that suppressed the fire and saved the community.
The line he created with the help of dozens of volunteers created enough land for the FireFighters to run hose and hand crews in, multiple engines and water trucks to charge the lines. Super tankers laid down 10s of thousands of gallons of retardant on the green side which allowed them to backfire creating a black line in an effort to put the fire OUT.
The efforts were successful and can be seen on CBS13 Sacramento which airs 8/27.
Money Raised will go to:
Dozer Rental and damage on the machine
Diesel used on machines
Tracks that were damaged
Chainsaws that blew rings and rods
Fuel expenses incurred traveling to and from for Diesel procurement

The community paid for this out of their own pockets and anyone is looking for is to break even. Your donations will only go the expense of the individuals and any excess donations would cover their loss of work income incurred.
Daniel Hovarter was a volunteer on the crew and as well as a community member residing on Perry Creek rd. He has be designated to oversee all funds and distribute in a prioritized manner.
