Help Greta & Nicolas with Anslyn's Medical Care
Donation protected
Anslyn Marie Wilson was born on January 12, 2021, at 12:53am to Greta and Nicolas Wilson. Weighing 1lb 5.2oz and measuring 12.25 inches, their beautiful little rainbow baby came into the world at 23 weeks; 17 weeks prior to her original due date, May 11th, 2021.
Greta was rushed to Javon Bea Hospital, a neonatal specialty hospital, in Rockford, Illinois, on January 10th, when she began leaking amniotic fluid due to a premature rupture of membranes (PROM). PROM is a rupture of the membranes (amniotic sac) before labor begins. If PROM occurs before 37 weeks of pregnancy, it is called preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM). PROM occurs in about 8-10% of all pregnancies. Unfortunately, during Greta’s prior pregnancy, Greta experienced PPROM and lost their son, Bryce, at 17 weeks gestation.
As terrified as Greta and Nicolas were to have to endure this same situation, yet again, Anslyn, their little fighter, pulled through and is now under the care of the wonderful NICU staff at Javon Bea Hospital. Greta was released from the hospital on January 14th and is staying home for the next six weeks to recover. Greta and Nicolas are making daily trips (an hour-long drive one-way) to the hospital to see their beautiful baby girl and deliver mommy’s milk so Anslyn can continue to grow big and strong.
Anslyn is expected to stay in the hospital until at least her original due date, 17 weeks from now. Anslyn is improving as expected, but faces a long, tough road ahead.
Despite having insurance coverage, Greta and Nicolas will have to endure a tremendous amount of out-of-pocket medical costs so Anslyn can have the best care she desperately needs. According to the March of Dimes, a premature baby spends an average of 25.4 days in a specialty care nursery at an average cost of $144,692. Anslyn is projected to stay for at least 119 days. This is five times the average stay, totaling an estimate of care at $723,460.
During this time, Greta and Nicolas could use everyone’s love and support. Donations will go directly to Greta and Nicolas to help offset the medical costs. Every donation, no matter the amount, is appreciated. Anslyn’s family also believes in the power of prayer. Therefore, we graciously accept any support given in that way too. We hope you can find it in your heart to show your support as Anslyn Marie continues her courageous battle for life.
