Ansar of Pittsburgh is a community-based grassroots organization founded to assist refugee and immigrants settling in Allegheny County. In a span of two years, Ansar of Pittsburgh assisted more than 60 families with donated furniture, cars, advocacy, immigration paper, interpretation, etc. In collaboration with government and nonprofit organizations, Ansar of Pittsburgh was able to provide ESL classes for women and men, workshops, public speaking and civic engagement, cultural awareness, tutoring and linking families to needed services. Continuing to assist families to acclimate to life in the United States, Ansar of Pittsburgh is launching two programs to empower women and youth play an active role at home and in their communities. The programs aim to channel interest and acquired skills towards continuing education and employment. We plan to offer training workshops, group discussion, educational sessions in parenting, healthcare, balancing books, banking, internship, art classes, and driving classes.
