Angie and Dori adopt!

We're about to be moms!
Are you excited about another adorable gay-by in the world?! We are too! A wonderful expectant parent has chosen us to adopt her baby, due this July (yes, like in a month!).
So many of you have followed us on our journey towards parenthood that started practically when we met in 2017. A whirlwind romance, a beach wedding, and plans to start a family. We have been amazed by how our friends and family and larger Queer community have shown up to get us here. From the folks that helped us get the house ready for our homestudy to friends and family that have shared our adoption book to the wonderful person that helped us use social media so that the mother of our child could find us-we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you and our hearts are full.
Now the real journey begins!
We live for all the love and light and talks with the universe that have come from you to get us to where we are. Many of you have also generously asked how you can help us with the financial aspect of the adoption process. If it's cute baby clothes and books you want, keep an eye out for a registry that will come once our little one is here.
If you are able to contribute to the cost of the adoption, however, we would be so grateful as well.
We want to be transparent here. The cost of our private adoption, even without using an agency, is going to be about $30,000. This includes legal and court fees for us as well as our child's first (birth) parent, adoption visit fees, the cost of assisting the expectant parent financially, and our travel cost to three different states over 3 months. That's before the baby is even born!
Times are tough for everyone out there and if you are getting this, please do not feel pressure to contribute to our journey towards parenthood in this way if you are not able. The joy and well wishes you bring to this process is also so needed as we have many steps to take (and overcome) before we can fully call ourselves parents!
Thank you for taking the time to consider us. We know there are so many worthy places to give to these days and our small dream is just one of them but we put our faith in our community and are grateful for all your ongoing support.
Much love,
Dori and Angie
