Angels on the Ground
You don’t need wings to be an angel.
Sometimes being an angel simply means seeing someone who needs help — and choosing not to walk past.
In Ocho Rios, Jamaica, there are vulnerable people who are struggling to meet basic needs, and stray animals who have been abandoned and left without care.
Angels on the Ground began with one promise — to come back and help.
In 2025, I travelled to Jamaica and was deeply touched by its people, its spirit and its beauty. But what stayed with me most was seeing the reality faced by people who had very little, alongside animals who had been left behind.
While visiting the local market, I met Mrs. Jade, a respected member of the community who, despite having very little herself, was already helping to prepare and feed people who had nothing.
I promised myself I would return.
A year later, I travelled back on my own, hoping to build connections, explore opportunities for collaboration and find meaningful ways to support the community.
What followed felt like a beautiful alignment of circumstances and that promise became Angels on the Ground.
Since then, we have provided fresh meals, drinking water and refreshments, feeding 120 people on one distribution day.
During my time there, I also fed and cared for stray dogs every day.
Because to us, compassion has no category.
We could not feed a hungry person and walk past a hungry animal.
So we care for both. We see both. We help where we can.
This is a team of ordinary people doing extraordinary things for the community. Our local community volunteers know the people, understand the needs and know where help is needed most.
This is not about telling a community what it needs. It is about listening, supporting, working together and turning compassion into action.
I give my time freely, and our local community volunteers give theirs. We do this together, because our compassion is bigger than our bank accounts.
We may not have everything.
But we will not let our circumstances define our compassion.
One person can start something. A community can make it grow.
I am personally funding this work because waiting for the right time, the right opportunity, the right circumstances, or someone else to start was not an option.
Now, we want to give more.
Your support can help provide fresh meals, safe drinking water, essential and dignity items, and food and care for stray animals, while helping us develop future community projects.
But donating is only one way to help.
Share our mission. Offer your time or skills. Connect us with someone who can help. Explore our Gift of Hope. Help us turn compassion into action.
No one should be forgotten.
No animal should be invisible.
