Angelina’s Mission Trip to Kenya with CRF!

Hi everyone!

As many of you may know, I will soon be graduating from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Horticultural Sciences and have been looking for opportunities that give me the chance to use some of the knowledge I have gained over the last few years in a way that also allows me to exercise my faith. Throughout my time at OSU studying Horticulture, I learned so much about the impacts that poor environmental and social conditions, as well as lack of access to knowledge can have on communities around the world, which often lead to or amplify issues such as extreme food insecurity and poverty. These are not issues that the majority of Americans have often been forced to worry about- but for many countries around the globe, these are issues that affect the lives of millions of men, women, and children every single day. In fact, over 50% of deaths of children under 5 are a result of malnutrition- which is directly linked to food insecurity and poverty. Christian Relief Fund (CRF) is an organization that strives to assist those of all ages, with an emphasis on orphans and vulnerable children, in poverty around the globe through child sponsorships (sponsorships provide for the intellectual, physical, spiritual and social needs of the children), providing clean water and medical care, planting churches, building schools and medical facilities, and aiding in disaster relief efforts. Throughout my childhood, my parents sponsored children through CRF, which is another reason that I jumped at the opportunity to join a CRF Mission team traveling to Kenya in July when offered a spot on the team a couple weeks ago! I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to see the work that is being done in Kenya to further the Kingdom of God, and to be able to step away from the luxuries and things I often take for granted that simply come with being born in a first world country, and spend some of the time I have been granted doing what Christians are called to do. If you have the means and feel inclined to do so, I would truly appreciate any financial support. My goal is to raise $4,000 dollars by July. All funds will go directly to pay for trip fees and costs associated with my time spent with CRF in Kenya. I know this is a pretty short period of time, so I would appreciate prayers that I will be able to reach my fundraising goal by July! I plan to document my time as much as possible, and would love to provide an update for those who are interested in hearing about my experience and the work CRF is doing in Kenya after I return!
