On Feb. 17 at 5:50 p.m., our beautiful daughter, Angelica Grace Coolman was born. She was alive in our arms for 25 joyous minutes before God welcomed her into His Kingdom.
Twenty five minutes is not enough time for any parent to spend with their newborn and certainly not enough time to properly grieve their loss. Christopher and I were not ready to let her go, and we’ll be forever grateful to the family who, having experienced a similar tragedy of losing a child much too soon, donated a Cuddle Cot to our local hospital in their baby’s name. A Cuddle Cot is a cooling system that gives babies who have passed much needed extra time with their families, and delays their need to be moved to a cooled mortuary environment. It was because of the Cuddle Cot that Christopher and I were able to spend the precious time we needed to memorize her beautiful features (many of which remind us of her brother Finn), talk to her and pray over her. She stayed with us over night until the hearse transported her to the funeral home the next day.
Due to the expense of these devices ($3,000 per unit), there are many local hospitals that do not currently have Cuddle Cots, and we can’t imagine how hard it must be for the families who could benefit from the extra loving time afforded by them. Christopher and I are desperately trying to make sense out of a senseless situation, which is why we want to raise enough awareness and funds to supply more hospitals in need of Cuddle Cots. We are doing this to keep our beautiful Angelica’s memory alive.
So we ask that you kindly consider donating to this extremely noble yet obscure cause. And please keep our little angel in your prayers.
Love,
The Coolmans
