Angela's mission with Mercy Ships

Hello,
My name is Angela Silke, and I have the opportunity to serve with Mercy Ships. Mercy Ships aligns with my values and combines my passions for the Good News of Jesus and bringing hope and healing through providing medical care. I am excited to work as a Low Care Unit Facilitator on board Global Mercy. I will be serving in Sierra Leone Africa, which is one of the poorest nations in the world. I am beginning October 1st for at least three months with the goal of staying nine months. I would be helping to manage the pre/post-surgical unit, making sure the supplies are stocked, mentoring the local day crew, facilitating an atmosphere of hope and healing, and coordinating between departments.
Mercy Ships is a non-profit organization that uses hospital ships to serve the world’s poor. They provide life-changing surgeries, as well as training and education of local health professionals to increase the host country’s capacity of medical care. It has always been on my heart to serve the poor and help improve medical care. I am incredibly honored to be a part of an organization dedicated to furthering the gospel, through tangible efforts as the hands and feet of Jesus.
I am thrilled to work with a community of Christians from all over the world, and am looking forward to changing lives and having my life be changed by this experience. All surgeons, nurses, and crew members are volunteers and need to raise their own financial support.
My goal is to raise $8,400 total for the nine months. This includes travel expenses, food and lodging on the ship, insurance, personal expenses, etc.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and considering support. Please share this with others and pray for me and the mission of Mercy Ships as we endeavor to bring hope and healing. Please pray that the Lord’s will would be done and that I would continually be open to His leading and direction.
