Angela & Ryan are having a baby!
Donation protected
Hello, loved ones! Ryan & I have been busy organizing our lives & readying to welcome this wee being outside the womb.
Many of you have asked over the past several months what items we need or how you could assist. Fortunately, we've had some great hand-me-downs from friends no longer requiring certain items, while our thrifting skills have been sharply tuned as of late.
As we get down to the wire, what we do still need is a car seat, stroller (preferably a combo style for ease of use), and to finish paying the birth photographer along with the doula. Do these things add up to one million dollars? Heck no! But, like ballz on a snowman, that's Ryan's entertaining sense of humour. ;-)
If you're receiving this email, we do not in any way expect for you to make a contribution. You're only receiving this message in the event that you'd already planned on gifting us & baby. Instead of spending $5 on a 'congratulations' card, or something we may not need, putting those few bucks towards what we do require would be of better use, and who doesn't like spending money wisely?!
What do we already have? Well, for those who know me, I'm not a fan of environmental waste, unnecessary clutter, plastic, artificial scent, or annoying sound-making toys. ;-)
-We'll be cloth diapering and are set with diapers for different growth sizes, a diaper bag, wet bags for dirty diapers, the toilet hose attachment for rinsing diapers once baby is eating solids and even a Spray Pal to prevent poopy water from going everywhere. We'll also be using biodegradable or reusable wipes, & have two tubs for bathing.
-We'll be cosleeping with baby in bed, however, we do have a bassinet and sheepskin for those times when baby isn't being worn. We're foregoing a crib & going for cage-free childrearing. ;-) We also have two baby gates to block the stairs, a playpen for outdoor use, a car seat cover, a mat for under the car seat to protect the vehicle, a rearview driving mirror to see the little one & a vehicle window blind.
-We have the following baby carriers: BabyBjorn, Ergo, Maman Kangourou, Hotslings, & Jelly Bean.
-Baby will be exclusively breastfeeding (no pacifiers as they disrupt breastfeeding & aren't great for baby's mouth development). We have a stack of receiving blankets, a breastfeeding pillow, a bottle warmer & some glass bottles for the odd time I scoot out to a yoga class, leaving my breastmilk behind. For when baby has begun eating solids, we do have an adjustable wooden high chair.
-We have a TON of onesies & clothes for baby to puke & crap onto, for the first few months, lol.
-And books! Who doesn't love a good story? We've begun putting together a small storytime library.
No doubt, there will be some unexpected items we realize we can't live without, once baby is in arms, but for now, we're feeling mostly set. Is there anything you recommend which was invaluable after your wee one was born?
Pregnancy has been a blissful experience for me & I feel so fortunate to have escaped a drop of nausea. I do, however, now know what heartburn is. I've been doing prenatal yoga since January, and have exploited the last of our benefits by regularly seeing a massage therapist, chiropractor and acupuncturist.
Thank you in advance for any way in which you choose to contribute, no matter how big or small. :)
With love,
Baby, Angela & Ryan
