This GoFundMe is for my dear friend Angela, who I have known for 18 years. Below is her story. I know she would never ask for help, but she needs it now as she is in the fight of her life. She is fighting to save two precious children who wereplaced in her care 2.5 years ago. Angela is a single mother to her 13 year old son, who has been called to serve as foster mom to children in need of a safe home. She received two siblings and was asked by DFPS to be the permanent placement. She is the only mom they know. Angela has spent 60K to date on legal fees and is facing more as she approaches trial fighting for the lives of these two innocent children. Please find it in your heart to help her fight. Any amount of money will help, no amount is too small.
Angela’s Story
I’ve fostered these two beautiful babies since September 2016. I became their adoptive placement in December 2017. It has been in the plans since then that I would be their adoptive mother. We just had to wait for the parental rights to be terminated. Let me tell you why the parental rights needed to be terminated.
Baby J was a victim of serious and continuing physical abuse from before birth until he was removed from the care of his father. Baby J was born to a habitual drug user. At birth, Baby Jtested positive for benzodiazepines, cocaine, and amphetamines. Even though the biological father tested positive for marijuana and alcohol, Baby J was placed in his care. Within two months injuries started appearing. Multiple bruises to hip, chest, cheeks, buttocks, arm, and both ears. Wrap around bruises on both wrists, fracture on humerus, and fractures on the lower distal ulna of both arms, ear and gum lacerations, and contusions on lip and ear. All this was done while he was 1 year old. Baby J was removed from father’s home and returned to DFPS. At that time, Baby L was placed with DFPS because of the nature and severity of Baby J’s injuries.
On June 12, 2018, the parental rights were terminated. This should have been an exciting time but at the last minute, thebiological father brought in his sister from the country of Panama to file for adoption-a sister that didn’t step up when the kids entered foster care 2 years previously. The kids do not know her. They do not speak the same language, and she will likely hand them back over to the dad. The aunt does not believe her brother abused Baby J. Therefore, much testimony has been presented, that she will return the children to her brother. The lack of contact with the children in the preceding 4 years creates significant concern regarding the best interest of Baby L and Baby J. The aunt has made very little effort to visit or contact them and form a relationship. When she could have had visits she went 7 months with no communication. Neither the uncle nor cousins have ever met or spoke to Baby L or Baby J. Baby L and Baby J were born in America, American citizens. They deserve the right to remain here and receive all the freedoms of an American citizen. I’m scared to death, and terrified for the safety of my kids. They WILL be so traumatized. If they get on that plane they are in danger. They will be back with their abuser. It’s painful to say, but history proves, when children go back to the abuser’s home, the abuse continues, and many times, they die. Thank you for your support, in the fight to keep them in the only safe, loving home they have ever known. With the only “mommy” and “bubba” they have ever known. We have a trial date of June 25, 2019. I ask you to join with me, in this fight.
