Andy's Memory Walk for Alzheimer's
Last year our wonderful dad and step dad, Andy, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Many of you will know Andy as "Mr. Smith from Hall Orchard", or from his relentless and ongoing work in community groups in and around Barrow.
It will come as no surprise to anyone that our dad has dealt with his diagnosis characteristically with incredible tact, determination and fighting spirit. His honesty and pragmatism quickly led him to wanting to raise more awareness about Alzheimer's, including early signs and scientific research.
If you have met our dad, you will know that he is the kindest and most generous person. He is and always has been the first to help others. Now it's our turn.
We're so proud of him and wanted to do something not only to celebrate him and help to raise awareness of dementia, but to also fundraise for Alzheimer's Society.
Andy has spent his life enjoying walking with family and friends. It felt fitting to take on the Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk with him on the 10th of August, to come together and walk for a future where dementia no longer devastates lives.
