Pengweather + Urban Compassion Project: TRASHFORCE 2025
We’re teaming up. The Bay Area's cleanup legend and trash warrior, Peng, and the relentless force of Urban Compassion Project, are joining hands in a powerful yearlong collaboration to clean up the Bay Area faster, more efficiently, and with dignity.
Illegal dumping is dangerous, demoralizing, and disproportionately impacts our homeless neighbors. That’s why we’re doubling down on a solution that works.
In 2025 alone, we've collected over 100 tons of illegally dumped trash across the Bay Area — with help from Urban Compassion Project's (UCP) Homeless Ambassador Program, which empowers local homeless residents with stipends and equipment to maintain cleanliness in their areas and report illegal dumping. Since 2021, UCP has collected over 2100+ tons of trash.
Now, we’re scaling.
We’re asking for your help to raise $30,000 to fund the following for MAY 2025.
- 9 Homeless Ambassadors with weekly stipends for the duration of 2025 ($3,600) - 4 weeks* $100 per ambassador * 9 ambassadors
- A skid steer to move massive piles fast (rental) ($4,500)
- Dump trailers to get it all to the landfill for week day and weekend cleanups ($16,000)
- Essential supplies like bags, PPE, rakes, and shovels ($1,000)
This will allow us to host multiple cleanups every week, expand to new neighborhoods, and deter illegal dumping before it starts.
Most Recent Update:
GoFundMe Update –May 7, May 9, May 10; 3 Cleanups: Over 38,860 lbs of Trash Removed!
We wanted to share a powerful update on how your donations are making a real difference
May 7th: 12 volunteers cleared including 2 homeless neighbors cleared 10,000 pounds of trash from Lower Bottoms Park. The area still remains clean!
️May 9th: Vincent, Andy, and I rolled up our sleeves and cleared 15,360 lbs (7.68 tons) of illegally dumped trash using just one dump trailer. The effort cost approximately $1,357, all directly funded through your generous support.
️May 10th:
With over 50 volunteers and two dump trailers, we removed more than 13,500 lbs (6.75 tons) of trash. This day was especially heartbreaking. During the cleanup, we found a neglected, abandoned dog, trapped inside a fenced area without food or water, likely used for breeding. We rushed her to the vet, and thanks to Vincent’s care—and the compassion of our community—she was adopted by the very volunteer who found her. ❤️
This is why we do what we do. It’s not just about trash. It’s about healing our neighborhoods, one block, one soul at a time.
We’re not stopping. This Saturday, we’re back at it on East 12th & 21st Street
Next Wednesday, we’re hitting 3rd & Center Street
Every dollar you donate helps us cover dump fees, fuel, trailer costs, and supplies to restore dignity to these spaces—and sometimes, to lives.
Thanks to your support, areas we’ve cleaned are staying clean through our Homeless Ambassador Program, which continues to create jobs and stewardship opportunities.
Please keep sharing and donating. You are part of the solution.
May 5 Update: Cleared the massive pile off East 12th and 19th on May 3, which required us to rent dump trailers and pay for the dumping fees as well as rent a skid steer. Will post receipts very soon, but right now we've spent approximately $6,000 on the May 3 cleanup.
We're NOT STOPPING. We are cleaning up the park at 3rd and Center on May 7 and a side street off East 12th this coming Saturday, May 10. Don't anticipate these to cost as much as our most recent cleanup, but we're only in the first week of May!
