Hi Friends!

In October I am going to Brazil and will be visiting the Hebrom Retirement Community. Many people, including myself and my dad, have worked very hard to bring the vision of this community to life.

Residencial Hebrom was started as a group of homes where missions workers can be cared for, honored and given rest in their retirement. During my first visit to the community last year, I was inspired to fundraise for a ride-on lawnmower. With over 4 acres of grass to mow, I saw an opportunity to meet a practical need that would make a huge difference in the lives of the residents. Here is a picture of me using the existing push mower and the new mower we will buy:

As I began to share this story with friends and family, I realised there was an even bigger opportunity for us to be part of. So I’ve created this page as a way of inviting you to join me on the journey, and contribute not just to a new lawnmower, but to building the community. 

What can we do? We can raise $5000 (or more!) to meet some very practical needs of the residents living at Hebrom between now and October.

Firstly, thanks to your generous giving we are already part way to meeting the goal of purchasing a new ride-on mower. The remaining $3,000 is included in my overall goal and I KNOW TOGETHER we can make this a reality. If you help to grow it, they will mow it!

Secondly, there is an immediate need for healthcare and equipment to assist the residents of Hebrom. In particular we know a wheelchair and a walker would be of tremendous help at the moment.

Thirdly, the vision for Hebrom has led to the need for further expansion. Construction is planned to build more homes on the grounds, and a common space to be created where residents can come together for meals, and to celebrate special events in their community. There is a waiting list for new residents while funds are being found to complete the building plans.
