When life throws you a curve ball, you get help from your friends. This year has thrown Andrea and Leslie two massive curve balls. These two pillars of our community are both facing life-altering health issues.

In April, Leslie was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and has been undergoing treatment in Marin. She has four months of chemo/immunotherapy… and with that A LOT of medical bills.

In May, Andrea started experiencing neurological disorder symptoms that are either dystonia or ALS. Turns out her grandfather had a motor neuron disease so ALS is likely. Her symptoms include some slow speech, a weak/wobbly right leg, drop-foot and right arm weakness. Because of this, a cane and walker have become necessary and her medical bills are likely to increase.

Leslie’s smiling face when you walk into Mollie Stones grocery store, is one of the things that make us feel like we are experiencing the best aspects of a small town living. Her disposition, open nature and loving personality are a priceless combination. Everyone that meets her, loves her immediately.

Andrea is force to be reckoned with and has many feathers in her cap: motivating folks at a fitness class, inspiring entrepreneurial women at the Marin based women's networking group she founded in 2010 (NEWofMarin), helping people get over the fear of speaking in public, and her main passion, film production — where she has worked as a Script Supervisor and Director for the past 28 years. And she is also an author!

However, with these crippling health impacts, both of them have had to dramatically cut back — or in Andrea‘s case, stop work completely.
