Andi's Legal Battle for Her Son's Well-being

My name is Andi, and I'm a single mom who has half-time custody of my amazing six-year-old son, Wild Man. (Not using his name out of respect for his current and future privacy.)

Wild Man has been diagnosed by a psychiatrist with ADHD and a couple of other possible diagnoses. This form of neurodivergence means that he has significant trouble with focus, impulse control, emotional regulation, and sitting still. (For those familiar, he has a combination form - both hyperactive and inattentive.)

His father has staunchly refused to allow Wild Man to be medicated despite the advice of the psychiatrist and Wild Man's continuing difficulties in school and socially. I have tried all the means I have - including paying for a psychiatric evaluation and therapy as well as seeking accommodations from his school (which are happening with his stellar teacher but not the school formally despite two meetings) - but his father refuses to not only deny his diagnosis but also refuses to get him the medication that the psychiatrist advises to help Wild Man now and help prevent more serious behavioral and educational difficulties in the future.

I am launching this fundraiser to help me cover the legal fees that I have already begun accruing as I seek to get Wild Man the treatment he needs for this medical condition. Unfortunately, it seems my only remaining recourse is legal action against his father. I don't take this lightly, but I do want my son to be as healthy and successful as possible. If medication will help him, we will take that route.

I am asking for your support - even in the midst of so many needs - because I cannot do this alone. I simply do not have the funds to do so. Anything you can give would be helpful.
