ANCESTRAL FOOD WAYS FUNDRAISER (2024 CEREMONIES)

Ancestral Food Ways humbly asks for the communities' support in helping us raise 10k for our important ceremonies and feasts for the 2024 year. We operate on a very minimal budget and through lots of grassroots/volunteer work. We are grateful to be such instruments for our nations as well as a living wave of revitalization for all our peoples North to South!

Ancestral Food Ways is a collective of Indigenous peoples from North, Central, and South America. We practice food sovereignty, cultural reclamation/education, and spaces to unite as the collective relatives of Abya Yala(The Americas) in the spirit of the Eagle, the Quetzal, and the Condor prophecy. Our collective is based on unceded Coast Salish Lands, and we operate with guidance/permission from relatives from host nations as well as by ancestors and spirit. These practices manifest through regular feasts, events, ceremonies, and workshops we host and are centralized around our garden in Strathcona. This Garden is led, in part, by Maya relatives and elders from Guatemala and Mexico, however it serves to benefit the whole community. Our garden holds ancient wisdom and connection as the many flowers/foods which grow border an Indigenous food system in the center called "Tres hermanas"(three sisters). This is where Corn is planted closely with beans and squash to create a symbiotic and reciprocal relationship which benefits all three. This reciprocal relationship is not unlike our relationship with one another when we are at our best. It is a representation of the collaboration and reclamation Ancestral Food Ways strives for!

Ancestral Food Ways pide humildemente el apoyo de las comunidades para ayudarnos a recaudar 10k para nuestras importantes ceremonias y fiestas para el año 2024. Operamos con un presupuesto mínimo y a través de mucho trabajo comunitario y voluntario. ¡Estamos agradecidos de ser tales instrumentos para nuestras naciones, así como una ola viva de revitalización para todos nuestros pueblos del Norte al Sur!

Ancestral Food Ways es un colectivo de pueblos indígenas de América del Norte, Central y del Sur. Practicamos la soberanía alimentaria, la recuperación/educación cultural y espacios para unirnos como parientes colectivos de Abya Yala (Las Américas) en el espíritu de la profecía del Águila, el Quetzal y el Cóndor. Nuestro colectivo se basa en tierras Coast Salish no cedidas, y operamos con la guía/permiso de familiares de las naciones anfitrionas, así como de ancestros y espíritus. Estas prácticas se manifiestan a través de fiestas, eventos, ceremonias y talleres que organizamos periódicamente y que están centralizados en nuestro jardin en Strathcona. Este Jardín está dirigido, en parte, por familiares y ancianos mayas de Guatemala y México, sin embargo sirve para beneficiar a toda la comunidad. Nuestro jardín contiene sabiduría y conexión ancestrales, ya que las muchas flores/alimentos que crecen bordean un sistema alimentario indígena en el centro llamado "Tres hermanas". Aquí es donde se planta maíz en estrecha colaboración con frijoles y calabazas para crear una relación simbiótica y recíproca que beneficia a los tres. Esta relación recíproca no es diferente a nuestra relación entre nosotros cuando estamos en nuestro mejor momento. ¡Es una representación de la colaboración y recuperación por la que se esfuerza Ancestral Food Ways!
