Anawim House: New Laundry Equipment

On December 21st, 2020, dozens were flooded out of Central Park, destroying their tents and all of their things. In response, an encampment for those impacted by this crisis has been established by the City of Victoria at Royal Athletic Park.
Since then, the Anawim House on Vancouver and Caledonia has supported residents of the encampment, offering hot showers, curated outfits and clean shoes, and laundry.
Access to laundry is key for health and safety during weather fluctuations (this has been a wet winter, and dampness leads to mold). Not to mention, during a global pandemic, hygiene protocols are especially important. And, of course, as folks seek permanent housing and look for employment, being able to present themselves in clean clothes is a necessity.
Unfortunately, though, Anawim House's washing and drying facilities are on their last legs. New equipment is needed to replace the sets of washers and dryers currently being used by residents of Royal Athletic Park and others.
Raising enough money for Anawim House to buy a new washer and dryer would directly help those living at Royal Athletic. It would also show this organization that the community appreciates how they have been going above and beyond in showing up for their community.
