Help Anabel Recover and Get Back to Living the Life She Loves
Anabel is my dog, and she’s a little drummer. Together, we share music online—something that started as a small way to bring a bit of joy into the world, and somehow grew into a community of incredibly kind and supportive people.
She’s been invited to perform on shows like Britain’s Got Talent, America’s Got Talent, and even The Jimmy Fallon Show—opportunities I never could have imagined when we first started sharing her love of music. But over the past few months, everything has changed.
⚠️ Update (April 2026)
This page was originally created in May 2025 and has been updated to reflect Anabel’s current condition and ongoing treatment.
What began as a seemingly straightforward injury has turned into a much longer and more complex recovery than we ever expected.
What Happened
Anabel initially injured herself while running. At the time, it seemed like something that would resolve fairly quickly, but it soon became clear there was more going on.
She was later diagnosed with an iliopsoas injury, which requires careful rehabilitation and strict management. Just as we were starting to see progress, she then tore a paw pad, which meant several more weeks of restriction and set her recovery back further.
Although her paw has now healed, we are still working through the original injury.
She hasn’t been able to play the drums for months.
Where We Are Now
Anabel is currently undergoing ongoing rehabilitation, including:
- Physiotherapy
- Hydrotherapy (which we have recently paused but expect to restart)
- Strength and conditioning work
- Regular vet visits
We are also in the process of changing Anabel’s medical team to make sure she is getting the best possible care and support for her recovery.
Why We’re Asking for Help
We are incredibly lucky that Anabel is insured, and that has helped cover part of her care. However, her insurance has a limit on complementary treatments (including physiotherapy and hydrotherapy), so although it has contributed, it will not come close to covering the full cost of her ongoing rehabilitation.
Her current treatment costs include:
- Physiotherapy sessions at £65 (approx. $80), often multiple sessions per week
- Hydrotherapy sessions at £82 (approx. $100)
Alongside this, there are additional costs for:
- Extra complementary rehabilitation and treatment beyond what insurance covers
- Specialist input and care
- At-home equipment to support her recovery
I’m currently on a low income, and while I will always do everything I can for her, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with everything she needs.
What This Means for Anabel
Her health and happiness will always come first.
I’m hopeful that Anabel may be able to return to drumming in the next couple of months, but this will depend on guidance from her new medical team, and also on whether she chooses to go back to it.
Drumming has always been her choice. After such a long break, it’s something we’ll have to rediscover together.
Right now, my focus is simply on helping her:
- Recover fully
- Rebuild her strength and confidence
- Live a happy, comfortable life
Whatever that looks like for her.
Thank You
I never expected to ask for help like this. This page was only created because so many people reached out asking how they could support Anabel during her recovery.
If you’re able to contribute, we are incredibly grateful—every single donation will go directly towards her care.
And if you’re not in a position to donate, your support, kind messages, and simply following her journey mean more than I can put into words.
Anabel has brought so much joy into my life, and into the lives of others. I just want to give her the best chance at a full and happy life in return.
Thank you for being part of her journey
