On the morning of Friday, May 30th, Ana Cecilia “CeCí” Escobar-Arevalo—our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend—left home for work and never arrived. Since then, our lives have stood still. We are searching tirelessly, hoping and praying for her safe return.

CeCí was last seen leaving her home in the North East quadrant of Washington, DC, driving her blue 2008 Honda CR-V (license plate EB2261). Her phone last pinged near Newburg, Maryland. Despite a police wellness check, work with detectives, media outreach, and public assistance, we still don’t know where she is.

Who Is CeCí?

CeCí was born in Chirilagua, San Miguel, El Salvador, and raised by her beloved grandmother, Martina Arevalo Medrano, to whom she has always been deeply devoted. At the age of 17, she bravely immigrated to the United States in search of a better life and graduated from Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School in DC.

CeCí nació en Chirilagua, San Miguel, El Salvador, y fue criada por su querida abuelita, Martina Arévalo Medrano, a quien siempre ha estado profundamente dedicada. Her journey has been one of hard work and love. After high school, she worked briefly at Burger King before joining the National Democratic Club in 2007, where she rose from server’s assistant to head bartender—a role she continues to hold today. She is deeply respected and adored by her union coworkers and members alike.

In 2004, CeCí met Hugo, and they married in 2007. Together, they built a life grounded in love, faith, and service. Their children, Gaby and Xavy, are CeCí’s heart and soul.

CeCí is a devoted Catholic and member of Sagrado Corazón, Shrine of the Sacred Heart, parish. Her faith guides her, and she has always believed in the power of prayer and community. She loves visiting her family in Hyattsville, MD and Huntington, VA, and she dreams of one day retiring in her homeland, El Salvador.
