An Slí - Ferns, Ireland to St. David's, Wales

Hi - my name is Adrian Martin. I'm 64 years old. I've been diagnosed with prostate and bowel cancer - which I'm undergoing treatment for and being closely monitored by specialists.

While in Spain in 2023, I stumbled across many people doing the Camino - one person was 86 years of age - after speaking to him he deeply motivated me to keep walking and moving to aid with my physical and mental health. At that time I could only manage to walk a kilometre at a time. While I realised that I would never be able to manage the hills and mountains on the Spanish Camino - I found this old pilgrimage route from Ferns, Ireland to St. Davids, Wales and decided to undertake that instead.

I decided in the course of undertaking this challenge - to fundraise for 3 very deserving local charities that do phenomenal work in the Wexford Community

I have been training since returning from Spain, increasing my strength and stamina - every week I'm doing a little better and have been able to increase the amount of kilometres per hike.

I'm doing this challenge in the hope of surpassing the barriers that have been set down for me by my illness - and by doing this want to highlight this old Pilgrimage route while supporting local causes.

We will be providing ongoing updates on the Go Fund Me as the journey progresses

18th June-28th of June, 2024. I will begin my journey starting in Ferns, Wexford, Ireland. Time to be confirmed. I intend to document my journey and have two local incredibly talented film makers Michael Benson and Michael Duggan joining me on this adventure to capture the highs and lows. They'll be with me every step of the way.
