OBJECTION TO SUI GENERIS CHANGE OF USE PLANNING APPLICATION DM2025/01591- from AMBULANCE STATION TO MOSQUE (MUSLIM WORSHIP) HALL and COMMUNITY CENTRE
Conducting an Independent Parking and Transport Survey around SM2 6JH
On behalf of residents in Dorset Road, Balmoral Way, Avenue Road, Holland Avenue, York Road and many nearby roads, I am writing to ask for your support from our neighbours, the wider community, friends, and families by contributing towards the cost of an independent parking and transport survey, as part of the objection to the above planning application currently being considered by the London Borough of Sutton Planning Committee.
Our neighbourhood is characterised by narrow, residential roads and the presence of a very large primary school, currently with over 1,030 pupils enrolled. We have many families and elderly residents who rely on local services and the current parking situation is rated in the London Borough of Sutton and London Plans as being poor. Establishing a mosque, with opening hours from 7a.m. to 11p.m., with operations 7 days a week and the associated traffic volumes with up to 250 visitors, (in our view a minimum estimate!), as well as the associated volume of traffic, parking pressures in an area where parking and traffic flow is already intolerable, and enhanced noise levels is not to the benefit of the entire community and detrimental to the wider Community’s interests in our opinion. These issues affect us all and will definitely have a significant impact on the quality of life within our community.
In order to protect our shared interests and ensure that our concerns are properly, professionally, and objectively evidenced, in submissions to the Council, we have concluded that it is necessary to appoint an independent external company to undertake a parking and transport survey to highlight the problems with the planning application.
Some key facts:
• The cost of this survey is £5,400 (including VAT), subject to final confirmation.
• The survey will review relevant aspects of the application already submitted to the Council planning committee in December 2025 and review these.
• The completed report will be submitted to the Case Officer at Sutton Local Planning Authority in connection with planning application DM2025/01591 (https://planningregister.sutton.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=T7NXNQKCMOC00) on or before 16th March 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.
We are asking for your financial contribution in any way small or large to help us raise that £5,400 for the benefit of the wider Community:
• Any contribution, however small, would be greatly appreciated and will help ensure that our community’s voice is supported by credible evidence.
