An Everyday Getaway for John & Janice Nicholson

Those of us who know and love John and Janice Nicholson and their "boys" know that all 3 of their sons are no longer boys, but strapping young men.   While BJ is no longer living in their home, Andy and Ethan, who are on the severe end of the autism spectrum, are still at home.  This has brought a challenge to their home life, and this pandemic has exacerbated an already extremely difficult situation to a point of urgency.  With no day programs happening and funding dwindling, Andy and Ethan, and therefore John and Janice, have had a very rocky road. 

We have all heard of the fight or flight response. In this case,  "flight" is not an option, especially when the safety of the boys is top priority.   This means that every day is its own battle, not only physically in some ways, but definitely emotionally and spiritually as well.  Most of us will never fully understand what daily life is like for them.  For sure, the boys are extremely affectionate at times and they are very well loved, but things are at a very serious point for them right now. 

If you are like me, you want to help but you don't know how.  I remember years back when so many came together to help build a fence for them.  I remember how many came together to send them on a cruise one year.   So, a few friends would like to campaign to raise funds to purchase a hot tub for their family.   They had rented a hot tub previously and it was such a relief at the end of a long day to destress and it is also something that Andy and Ethan can use as something that they will enjoy as well.  It will also just give them something to do.  And so, I'm calling this An Everyday Getaway in hopes it will be a reminder to them of everyone who wants to help them in a practical way and that this will truly be a way for them to recharge for the daily challenges.

The funds raised will be for the purchase of the hot tub, getting the location prepared, and the installation as well as anything else needed for this project.
