We are honored to launch the Tom Walker Future Teacher Scholarship in memory of our loving father to celebrate the life and legacy of an extraordinary teacher and girls basketball coach who dedicated 40 years to shaping young lives.

Tom wasn’t just a teacher in the Mount Sinai School District he was a mentor, a role model, and a source of encouragement for thousands of students and athletes. He loved teaching, believed deeply in his students, and coached his girls basketball players as if they were his own daughters. He worked hard building confidence, discipline, and leadership that extended far beyond the court.

To carry his impact forward, our family is establishing an annual $500-$1,000 scholarship that will be awarded each year to a graduating athlete who plans to pursue a career in education.

This scholarship will recognize a student-athlete who reflects the qualities Tom lived every day:

• Passion for teaching

All funds raised will go directly toward the scholarship, with payments made to the recipient’s college or university.

If additional funds are raised, they will help sustain the scholarship for future years, ensuring Tom’s legacy continues to inspire the next generation of teachers and leaders.
