Amruth's Eagle Scout Project

Hi, My name is Amruth Kakarla. I’m a life scout with Troop 2970 from Ashburn, VA. When I first moved to Ashburn, there were beautiful forests and natural scenery that all could enjoy, but nowadays, there are concrete chaos left, right, and center. I wanted to contribute to deforestation mitigation, but no one would listen to a 7th grader who had just moved to the state. Perhaps they would listen to someone who has proved his leadership skills to the people/troop, such as a rising Eagle Scout. With the goal of mitigating deforestation, I set my sights on the rank of Eagle. The Eagle Scout project enables one to harness all the skills acquired over their years of scouting in achieving a change or mitigating a particular issue that requires immediate attention.

 

Deforestation is a very urgent issue that, in my opinion, needs to be addressed. Trees provide 28% of the oxygen on the earth. In recent years, Ashburn has become the silicon valley of Data Centers, and consequently, the construction has necessitated the removal of trees. True, the constructors are planting trees to counteract the removal, but they are planting ten trees in replacement of hundreds, which is not nearly enough. So my Eagle Scout Project is to plant six trees in Claude Moore Park, which will be a small but meaningful contribution to the mitigation of deforestation.

 

During my time in Virginia, I have seen how beautiful the scenery was before and after the development of Ashburn Silicon Valley. So for the good of the world and the good of Virginia, I wanted to focus my Eagle Scout Project on Deforestation and mitigation. This project will benefit our community.
