I have just learned that Bob passed away today, after a long struggle.

He was cooking and making the most delicious food right up until three weeks ago, in spite of severe challenges caused by a bout of childhood polio. We should take a lesson from the way he lived his life.

Please keep Bob, and John and the rest of the Pottinger family in your thoughts.

John tells me that he desires to keep the deli open, but that the family lawyer advices that we should suspend the Go Fund Me page, so we are doing that today.

Should any of you know of an angel investor (or two) that might wish to own a piece of one of the premiere sandwich shops in America, please contact us at through the Facebook page.

We have decided to start a GoFundMe campaign to help sustain the future of our local treasure , the wonderful Al's Deli during these difficult times.  Business is down a bit, but rent is still due. We are so lucky to have such a special place in our community. 

Show your appreciation for John and Bob and their many years of hard work in the kitchen. Honor their joie de vivre. Celebrate their warm hospitality.  Order their amazing sandwiches, soups and cookies!!!
