AMIGOS Eye Care is a non-profit student-led organization at Pacific University in affiliation with VOSH International. Our primary goal is to provide free eye care to underprivileged nations around the world by coordinating missions to places with little access to health care.
This March AMIGOS Eye Care is partnering with SEE International where a team of 8 optometry students and 3 doctors will travel to the underserved village of Guadalupe, Ecuador. While there will be seeing upwards of 800 patients and providing them with complete eye health exams and glasses. Patients will also have the opportunity to have necessary and life-changing eye surgery performed by fellow ophthalmologists the following week.
As you can imagine, a lot of expenses are involved in sending an eye care mission such as this. These expenses include travel, lodging, food and equipment. Various organizations and generous individuals such as yourself have been very gracious in donating used eyeglasses and diagnostic equipment. However, as many of our team members are students, the airplane ticket, in-country transportation, meals and hotel fees are still a great cost.
I appreciate your consideration in donating and sincerely appreciate any donation that you are capable of giving. Providing vision care for an underserved population is a very fulfilling endeavor, and the gratitude shown by the people in need goes much beyond words.
If you would like to find out more about our trip please visit the AMIGOS Eye Care SVOSH Chapter website at http://amigoseyecare.org/.
A tax-deductible receipt can be sent upon donation.
