Amidst Gaza's Crisis, help us reunite my family

In the midst of Gaza's unprecedented crisis, we share a plea not just for our family but for the collective suffering endured by an entire population. Not only did this war cause death and devastation, but it also stripped families of essentials, leaving them in unbearable living conditions and deprived of clean water, food, and the dignity of basic humane living. Most families were rendered homeless, and others were forced to live in overcrowded areas.

Our family has faced considerable hardship, beginning with the passing of my father. Two of my siblings, both with disabilities (cerebral palsy), required substantial care. Unfortunately, the challenges escalated when one of them passed away following their transfer from a hospital that had undergone bombardment. Furthermore, my sister, a mother of five children, all under the age of 13, experienced the distressing loss of their home. Consequently, they had to relocate multiple times to different places, navigating these transitions with constrained financial resources.

Fortunately, my 73-year-old US-citizen mother and her five grandchildren received approval for evacuation to Egypt. While my remaining sister, her husband and my disabled brother, initially accompanied them as a supportive unit at the crossing point, they encountered an unexpected challenge at the Rafah crossing. Only my sister and my disabled brother were permitted to accompany my mother, resulting in the challenging separation from my brother-in-law Motasem.

This predicament poses significant difficulties, as my sister, who is not employed, now shoulders the responsibility of caring for five children, an elderly mother, and a disabled brother both physically and financially. The absence of her husband exacerbates the complexity of the situation causing psychological stress on her and the children. To address this, we aim to secure his presence through an alternative evacuation route, requiring special circumstance coordination at a cost exceeding $7,000. Additionally, the family anticipates monthly living expenses of approximately $2,000 in Egypt, along with the financial burden of providing necessary medical care for my disabled brother. Consequently, we seek a donation of $30,000 as a start to facilitate the reunification of our family, covering both the evacuation expenses and essential living and medical costs.
