Hi, my name is Hannah, and I’m raising funds for my beautiful niece Josie and my incredible sister, who is her sole carer.

Josie is just 13 years old and has just undergone major spinal surgery to correct severe scoliosis. This was a long and complex operation, and her recovery will be significant. In addition to scoliosis, Josie has complex medical needs, which means she requires constant care, patience, and support during this critical time.

My sister is a single mum who does absolutely everything for Josie. She is not only her carer, but her advocate, her comfort, and her strength. When she’s not caring for Josie, she works as a teacher’s aide in a special needs school, dedicating her life to helping other children who need extra support. She is one of the most selfless people I know.

Unfortunately, because she has no sick leave available, she will not be paid while she takes the necessary time off work to care for Josie during her recovery. Despite the emotional and physical toll, she is now also facing financial pressure at a time when her only focus should be on helping Josie heal.

My sister is incredibly proud and would never ask for help herself, but I know how much this support would mean to her. I want to help relieve some of the financial stress she is carrying so she can be fully present for Josie without worrying about how she will cover everyday expenses.

Funds raised will go directly towards essential living costs such as mortgage repayments, groceries, medical expenses, travel to and from hospital appointments, and allowing her the time she needs to care for Josie properly as she recovers.
