I am Shadi Al-Haitham. I am joining this campaign for my brother Haytham and his family. He will tell you his story and his suffering, hoping for your help.
We are Haytham and Aya, parents of two young boys, Ahmed (5 years old) and Hani (1.5 years old), with a third child on the way. Our family has been struggling to survive through two years of relentless war in Gaza.
In the first days of the war, our home was destroyed, and we lost several beloved family members and relatives in the bombing. I, Haytham, was injured while trying to bring food for my family, and since then, life has only become harder. We have been displaced seven times, living in tents and overcrowded shelters, where our children suffered from infections and diseases due to the harsh conditions. Hunger has become a daily reality. Some days we are lucky to find one meal to share; other days, we go without. Most of my day is spent searching for clean water, food, and whatever basic supplies we can find for our family, and trying to cook whatever small amount of food we can over an open fire
Ahmed has spent nearly half his life in war, hunger, and fear. He clings to his parents and still cries for his his cousin Wafaa—his best friend—who was killed in the bombing. Ahmed is now about to start school, having lost a year in kindergarten due to the war, and faces the challenge of beginning his education under such traumatic circumstances. Hani was born into war and has known nothing but displacement, danger, and scarcity. He often suffers due to the lack of essential items like milk and diapers, making daily life extremely challenging for our little family. Both boys deserve a chance at a childhood filled with peace, safety, and the opportunity to learn and grow
Aya suffers from a chronic liver condition and urgently needs proper medical care, which is impossible to find here. Before the war, she was close to completing her master's degree in counseling psychology, but her university was destroyed, and her dream was taken away. Before everything collapsed, Aya worked as a psychology specialist, while I worked as an engineer. We were building a stable and hopeful future for our children, but the war stripped us of of everything: our home, our work, and our dignity.
Today, we have nothing left. We are raising funds to help our family escape the war, find safety, and rebuild our lives. Donations will go toward:
Evacuation and safe travel costs
Basic housing and living expenses
Medical care for Aya
Baby essentials for Hani (milk, diapers, etc.)
A new beginning for our children, where they can finally grow up safe, healthy, and hopeful
Please, from the bottom of our hearts, we ask for your help. Your support can give our children the chance to live in peace and dignity. Any donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to safety and a new beginning.
Thank you for standing with our family in this darkest time.
