Hello Everyone! My name is Amber Makar.
I am a Canadian Ukrainian living in Toronto Canada. I also have family that are still in Ukraine. And it breaks me everyday to see what is happening there and knowing they are living through it - in 2022.
I am actively doing what I can to spread awareness on what is also an information war.
I've donated bits of money, have made housing and clothing donations.
And SINCE have done more!
I created this go fund me to collect donations for the Volunteer Humanitarian Group, 'Road To Ukraine' that were working at the Poland/Ukraine border. Which I headed out to help at the end of May.
I worked at the refugee center (Tesco) in Przemysl, Poland. Working in various areas of the center. From helping in the back, with sorting and packing of the donations. To helping the refugees on a daily basis with clothing and supplies.
And just being there to help in anyway I could providing attention to those who needed.
I also spent time getting to know other organizations and solo volunteers and was able to help them with any assistance that I could.
One of which lead me to helping transport refugees from Poland to the UK.
Quite the journey but worth the time.
While in Lviv,Ukraine, I spent time cleaning and packaging foods that are then taken to the front lines.
Not to mention spending time with all the Ukrainain woman and men who have been there since 2014. When this all started.
Amazing people. And equally amazing experience.
NOW I am back in Canada after almost 2 months in Poland and Ukraine.
However being back does not mean I stop here.
I continue to help from abroad, for now. By way of staying in contact with some amazing people I was able to meet and work with over in both Poland and Ukraine. And because of this I am able to help in all the ways I can.
I am now redirecting my journey, solo.
I am no longer working with Road to Ukraine as they have changed direction as well.
And I have since found some amazing organizations to work with and support!
For those who have donated already. Know that your donations have gone to exactly what it was set out to do! And all the donations purchased have made their way to the refugee center in Poland!
So thank you so much! Once again! Not only did you help me get there but also helped buy requested supplies to bring there!
Unfortunately I did not make the original goal,
which I did spend end up spending out of pocket.
And that's ok! But just in the name of transparency!
So as I continue to work and support Ukraine I will keep this gofundme going. This money raised will go towards buying more supplies. As well as covering costs to send them out.
Also donating to help certain organizations.
Such as the Ukrainain Army.
This is the one place I haven't put money towards yet. And I would love to support!
