Bringing Christmas Joy to Shipibo Children of the Peruvian Amazon

My name is Martin, and this Christmas I’m raising funds to bring gifts and a small Christmas show to over 250 Shipibo children living along the Ucayali River(Amazon) near Pucallpa, Peru. These remote tribes can only be reached by long boat, and most of the children will not receive anything for Christmas without outside help.

We only have a week, but with your support, we hope to give each child a toy, chocolate, and a simple Christmas show. If enough is raised, we’ll also provide food hampers for the elderly and families most in need. I’m coordinating directly with Shipibo community leaders and the mayor’s office to ensure everything is delivered safely and transparently, using the connections I built during a previous aid campaign I organised during COVID.

I’ve visited these communities before and saw firsthand how tough life can be day to day. Yet to play the children were playing soccer with a broken old ball, and they shared a single bike with bare metal rims worn down to almost nothing. You can imagine how even a small gift would be incredibly precious and bring them joy. After COVID hit them hard, I organised a GoFundMe for emergency food—your support made a real difference then, and I’m hoping we can come together again now to bring joy to these children and families this Christmas.

At Christmas, many of us spend so much on each other when we already have more than we need. If you can spare a little to bless these communities, it would mean the world. These tribes have been displaced many times from their Amazon homes and have been forced to relocate repeatedly along the river. They live in very harsh conditions, and even the simplest gift brings enormous joy.
