I'm Simone, and for August 2025, I've decided to participate in a volunteer project in Zambia. To support the local community, I'm organising a fundraising campaign.

Who are we?
We are a group of volunteers for the project "Amani 2025 Encounter Camps", and this summer we will be heading to Lusaka, Zambia.
Through this project, we will spend the month of August with children and young people who have been rescued from the streets and are now living in family homes in Lusaka.
Amani is a non-profit organisation based in Milan that, since 1995, has supported shelters, educational centres, and vocational schools in Kenya, Zambia, and Sudan.
African solutions to African problems. Creating opportunities, looking to the future.
What will we do?
At Mthunzi, we will design and carry out a variety of games and activities, but we need as much support as possible to make them a reality.
Where?
Mthunzi means “shade, refuge”—and that’s exactly what this place offers.
Located 15 km from Lusaka, Zambia, the Mthunzi Centre is a residential facility that transforms the lives of former street children.
Run by the Koinonia community, this extraordinary project provides a safe home for up to 60 children who have survived unimaginable hardships on the streets.
Koinonia and Amani together organise and directly support a wide range of activities: from food and healthcare to educational programs, vocational training, safe housing, and personal support.
Why is your support important?
These children have survived the unthinkable—hunger, violence, and life without the protection of a family.
Despite everything, they haven’t lost their desire to live, laugh, and dream of a better future.
