On July 17, our world changed when we received the heartbreaking news that Amanda Nobiss had tragically passed away. Our hearts are broken, but we hope to honour Amanda's legacy by carrying forward the work that meant so much to her through three community spay and neuter clinics in her name.

Amanda was someone who gave her whole heart to others. She was the first to show up when help was needed, the last to ask for recognition, and someone who believed that even the smallest acts of compassion could change lives. She had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and capable of making a difference themselves.

Whether she was comforting a frightened rescue dog, cuddling a cat as it recovered from anesthesia, mentoring a new volunteer, encouraging a student, or building relationships within communities she cared so deeply about, Amanda led with empathy, humility, and unwavering determination. If there was an animal or a person in need, Amanda showed up—without hesitation and without expecting anything in return.

She thought nothing of driving for hours to help an animal in need, staying up through the night with a sick foster, or spending her weekends in remote communities because she believed every life was worth fighting for. To Amanda, kindness wasn't something you talked about—it was something you did, every single day.

Over the past three years, Amanda poured her heart into animal welfare, fostering countless dogs and cats, coordinating animal transports across Manitoba, organizing the supplies that kept rescues running, mentoring volunteers, and travelling to northern and underserved communities to help animals receive the veterinary care they needed. She understood that rescue wasn't simply about saving one animal; it was about building a network of people willing to help, support one another, and create lasting change.

Amanda believed the future of animal welfare was prevention and she dreamed of creating solutions that addressed the root of the problem. Alongside her closest friends, Jennelle and Tatiana, Amanda founded Partners in Prevention, an initiative dedicated to bringing accessible spay and neuter clinics to underserved communities throughout Manitoba.

As a proud Métis woman, Amanda knew that meaningful change happens by working alongside communities—listening first, building trust, and creating lasting relationships rooted in respect. Prevention, education, and partnership weren't just goals; they were the values that guided everything she did.

Amanda's compassion didn't end with animals. She was also a teacher whose kindness, patience, and encouragement left a lasting impression on countless students. She believed in people, lifted others up, and led by example. Whether you knew her as a teacher, a colleague, a volunteer, a mentor, a rescuer, or a friend, chances are Amanda changed your life in many ways.

She leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured by the number of animals she saved or the hours she volunteered. Her true legacy lives on in the people she inspired to care more deeply, help more willingly, and believe that every individual has the power to make a difference.

Today, we have the opportunity to continue the work that meant everything to Amanda.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to carry forward the mission of Partners in Prevention and fund three community spay and neuter clinics in Amanda's honour. Each clinic costs approximately $15,000 to operate, covering veterinary professionals, surgical supplies, medications, transportation, equipment, and the many logistical costs required to bring these services directly to communities where access to veterinary care is limited. Any additional funds raised will continue supporting prevention initiatives, community partnerships, education, and animal welfare programs that reflect Amanda's vision.

Every clinic held in Amanda's name will help prevent future suffering. Every animal cared for, every family supported, every volunteer inspired, and every community partnership strengthened will carry her legacy forward.
