Hi. My name is Amanda and here's my story....
In June 2013 a 10cm tumor was accidentally picked up on my right kidney resulting in a radical nephrectomy due to Renal Cell Carcinoma. I was monitored closely and had a CT every year. Life was good and cancer became distant memory.........
..........until June 2022 when after a routine scan, our world came crashing down around us and our worst nightmare became a reality. RCC had returned and metasised in several areas classifying me as having stage 4 cancer. I have endured a gruelling 9 months of treatment with many ups and downs along the way. This treatment will continue for the foreseeable future.
During my dark days, the Tubbercurry Cancer Support Centre were a life line making me feel so safe and reassured. I for one did not realise the service they provide, its not until you need it that you realise.
May Bank holiday weekend last year I ran the West of Ireland ladies mini marathon, and what a feeling it was! I am proposing to do it again this year on April 30th, this time to raise money for the Tubbercurry Cancer Support Centre. My aim is to prove to myself and show others that Cancer does not have to define us or stop us doing the things we love. I have an army of family and friends who are going to join me and help me (or carry me!) over the line!
If you have any spare change I would realy appreciate a small donation to help this centre continue to do the invaluable work that they do.
