Hi, My name is Amanda. Just before Christmas 2024 my partner and I were trying for a baby, Then after being 16 days late for my period we thought we had actually caught! so, we went to the doctors to see what was going on. The doctor did a pregnancy test which came back negative so at this point alarm bells began ringing!

We then went to hospital where several scans were performed and I was diagnosed with stage 2b Ovarian Cancer. A few weeks passed and I went in for surgery to have a full hysterectomy. The surgery went well and thankfully was a success! but I was left facing the possibility of losing my hair through chemotherapy.

Thankfully I was lucky and was put on a different form of treatment for the type of cancer I have, which meant that I would not be losing my hair.

This opened my eyes to realizing how others with cancer may be feeling and I felt somewhat guilty that I was able to keep my hair and others like little girls, where their hair is so important to their confidence and self esteem must feel.

Which has lead me to wanting to raise funds and cut my hair to be turned into a wig, or several, for those less fortunate than myself who were unable to keep their hair either through cancer or other reasons.
