ALPS to OCEAN to support women living with cancer
Delia and Theresa are women pilots raising funds for Counterpart.
“Counterpart connects, supports and informs Victorian women living with cancer to live well”
We are attempting this challenge in memory of two dear friends, Helen and Marjy also pilots. We all learned to fly about the same time and became good friends.
We hope to raise $5000 for Counterpart. Any funds raised in excess of this will go towards our costs
We will fly the entire length of the Murray river in one day, from it's source in the Australian Alps to its mouth, as it empties into the Great Australian Bight in South Australia.
The Mighty Murray River is Australia’s longest river at 2508km.
It is the lifeblood of over 3,000,000 people who depend on it for water for consumption, crops, cattle. It is the third longest navigable river in the world after the Amazon and the Nile
We will be doing this in late November or early December. By doing this trip we will also be entering the International Dawn to dusk competition.
It was established by the late Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip and the Tiger Club, the objective of the Dawn to Dusk is:
"to encourage the most interesting employment of a manned aircraft within the limits of competent airmanship and to demonstrate the capabilities of pilot and machine in a day's flying, in the hours between Dawn and Dusk, whilst undertaking an original and praiseworthy objective."
