Balian’s All-Inclusive Park
Donation protected
On August 15, 2019 my family and I went to use a running trail in Rock Spring, GA. As we approached the trail, we saw a small, untended, poorly equipped park. We then saw a sign that read “Special Needs Park.” My husband and I were outraged at not only the condition of the park, but that such a neglected park would be designated for the “Special Needs.” This struck close to home for us because we have a 2 year old son who has Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. On August 22, 2019 I spoke at a Public Forum asking that the county would tear down the current “Special a Needs Park” and build and ALL-INCLUSIVE PARK in its place. I was given the approval and go ahead from the Walker County Commissioner. I will be spearheading this project, and I am now raising money to build the all-inclusive park in Rock Spring, GA. We are working with the Chattanooga based company PlayCore Play&Park Structures. We are also working with Bliss Products and Services Inc. They have helped us design “Balian’s Park,” which is all-inclusive and will be a National Demonstration Site! One of just a few in the state of Georgia! The total budget for the park is $500,000. All donations will go towards the building of the playground. My family and I are very passionate about all-inclusive parks. 3 years ago, we were told our son would be paralyzed from his chest down, be severely mentally handicapped, and have no quality of life. 1 year ago, our son took some of his very first independent steps on an all-inclusive playground. Can you imagine the impact this playground could make on future children’s lives? Please help us us build an all-inclusive park in Walker County. Help us bring children and families of all abilities together to show that “though we are different, we are all the same.” - Daniel Tiger
