Community, I'm Ashley Herring, a community organizer, and educator of 20 years, with blackyard and WE NEED YOU! before the report was dropped by Cambridge Community Foundation (see the article below in The Globe), we knew about the racial disparities and continued marginalization that continue to occur in Cambridge around food, steady employment, and housing access. blackyard, along side many other Black organizers, have been supporting our community-youth and young adult employment, rent relief, food, and everyday needs. Pre Covid and on-going, blackyard continues to be a space where Black, Brown, and Indigenous youth and people are held and loved. We hire young people for employment opportunities, young adults a space to grow and stretch themselves for this world, support parents navigating the Cambridge and Boston school system, and has provided food resources and rent relief. We are running low on funds and need your support to ensure EVERYONE has all they deserve to thrive in our community. blackyard has been acknowledged in many ways and wants to continue to provide for the for our community who continues to thrive despite the way white supremacy shows its self in Cambridge. We need money NOW to keep supporting people and through the summer months. Please remember that this time continues to really impact Black, Brown, and Indigenous people and we want people to continue to live in their dignity. https://cambridgecf.org/2020-award-winners/
