Allan and Cathie Moody Hurricane Ian

Hi, our names are Zach and Matt Moody, and Allan and Cathie are our mom and dad. Those who know our parents know that they would do anything for those around them. They are the kindest, most thoughtful, loving, and most generous people you will ever encounter. Our parent's dream was to move to Florida to settle into a nice, quiet retirement after decades of hard work and enjoy the warmer weather and more accessible climate Florida offers. In June, our parents packed up and moved from Colorado to Ft. Myers, Florida. They spent from June to September completely overhauling their new home. Painting, decorating and creating a perfect cottage house for themselves, where friends and family could visit.

Unfortunately for our parents, their home was directly aligned with Hurricane Ian's destructive path. Their home was less than 5 miles from the Sanibel Island Bridge, which saw some of the most severe destruction Ian offered. Even though our parents had "Hurricane Coverage" in their policy, they have been denied coverage because of "flood damage," and therefore, will not receive any help for the damages incurred because of this storm. The damage was incomprehensible. Over 4-feet of water filled their home, destroying all the home furniture, appliances, personal items, and necessary elements. The water heater, electrical fuse boxes, HVAC unit, and cabinetry need complete and total replacement.

As you can imagine, the toll this has taken on our parents has been immense. Friends and family have been enormously helpful in helping them with lodging and offering support in many different ways up to this point, but the financial cost of this damage has been and will be difficult.

With that, we are asking for any help you can give to help our parents with repairs to their home, and helping them get back all the things that were lost, and get them back into their home as soon as possible. My folks have not been the only ones impacted by this natural disaster, and all help would be genuinely and honestly appreciated.
