Giving Back to SickKids this Mother's Day - A Story of Hope and Gratitude
SickKids saved my son Aiden’s life, and for that, I am forever grateful. When my family faced the unimaginable, SickKids Hospital in Toronto provided the expert care and support that ultimately saved my son's life. This Mother's Day, I am choosing to give back to the hospital that means so much to us.
I am starting this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for SickKids Foundation in honor of the incredible work they do in providing life-saving care to children in need including Aiden. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in the lives of young patients and their families.
Join me in showing our support and gratitude to SickKids this Mother's Day. Let's come together to give back to the hospital that gave us hope and a future as a family. Thank you for your generosity and compassion. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Aiden was diagnosed with Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) Some children will experience no health issues—or only mild or moderate effects-from HIE, while others have much more severe and permanent disability.
Thankfully Aiden has hit all his 2 month milestones. We contiune to pray that we will never see any signs of brain damage.
He also has Ischemia in the fingers. For those with hand ischemia, an inadequate supply of blood to the hands causes the fingers to become painfully cold, numb, and pale— or blueish in color. For Aiden he will be losing 6 finger tips some to the first knuckle some to just his nail bed as he never fully regained the circulation in his finger tips.
Lastly, Aiden has SVT- Supraventricular tachycardia which is a type of irregular heartbeat, also called an arrhythmia. It's a very fast or erratic heartbeat that affects the heart's upper chambers. Therefore his medication helps regulate his heart rate and has not had any episodes since being home.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to Aiden and our family.
It is my Mother’s Day wish to bring families together again
Love Always, Alissa & Aiden
