This is my friend, Alisha. I met her a year ago at a spiritual retreat we were both attending. I was immediately drawn to her warmth and love for the Lord.
Alisha is a single mom who works 3 jobs to support her family. She works at Mel Trotter as a security guard and also works at Thresholds and Lincoln School teaching and caring for children and adults with developmental disabilities. On top of all this, she's taking a class at Cornerstone where she's studying to become a Counselor. (She's amazing!)
I recently sat down with Alisha to see if I could help her find better housing for her and her 4 kids. While Alisha wasn't looking for any other help, I gently pushed her to share any other needs with me. She mentioned the need for a good working washer and dryer, a laptop for school work, and told me she had a van that wasn't working. We were able to take care of the laptop for her and our mechanic generously offered to have her van towed to his shop so he could look at it. Unfortunately, it was damaged beyond repair.
However... our mechanic mentioned that one of his clients had a used van they were trying to sell. He serviced the van for them for years and knew it was a great vehicle. They were asking $5,000 for it, but when they heard about Alisha, they said they would be willing to come down to $3,500 for her. It's not possible for Alisha to come up with this money, but nothing is impossible to GOD! So, Alisha and I are praying He makes a way. If you want to be a part of this blessing for Alisha, please take a moment to donate here.
(Please let me know if you could help with her housing needs or a good working washer and dryer as well.)
