Alicia Bean RN International Nursing Educator

Hello, my name is Erika Havelka. I have been an Emergency Medicine Physician for 17 years. I have had the pleasure and blessing of having excellent health care providers, colleagues, and friends working with me all these years. One of those people is Mrs. Alicia Bean.
I admire Alicia's kind, selfless heart and work ethic. Without a doubt, she is a gifted nurse and friend to many.

I have known her in many roles, including the lastest as a nurse educator and trauma coordinator. She diligently ensures the staff stays updated on their education, credentialing, procedures and equipment. She is a wealth of knowledge, a great instructor and always remains exceptionally humble.

Alicia or Bean, as we all love to call her, always goes above and beyond expectations. Her kindness reaches out way above and beyond her patients, colleagues and family. Aside from working together educating in our hospitals. She has been assisting me in collecting medical donations for my not-for-profit humanitarian response through IDMC. A few days ago, she was offered the opportunity to assist in training and educating nursing staff at two different hospitals overseas. She would be part of a team of volunteers with the non-for-profit organization Med Global's short-term medical interventions. She could deploy more than once, if she chooses. The need is there. They follow requests from the Ministry of Health.

Bean has a strong desire to be able to help with her role as an educator. I am confident she possesses the knowledge and experience to accomplish the job. The mission is purely volunteer work; the volunteers either cover their expenses or get sponsorship. Bean would be the last to ask for monetary support. She has the capacity, knowledge, interest, and desire to serve those who need it most. She will honestly be saving lives by leaving behind learned skills, protocols, and procedures that will improve patient care. So I kindly ask all of us to help support this outrageously selfless mission she is willing to undertake.

I propose a goal of $5000 to allow her to go twice if possible. She has the dates for those two missions. If we can at least gather half of that, she would have her first trip covered on September 30th. Remember every bit of contribution helps. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
